Lib, Jim McGovern (D-Mass), dons conservative clothing in reelection bid

But liberal voting record tells real story

There are lies, damned lies and stuff liberal congressmen will say about their voting records.

I like to think I’m a jaded, cynical observer of Massachusetts politics, but when I read Rep. Jim McGovern’s claim to support cracking down on illegal immigration, I literally gasped out loud.

McGovern told the MetroWest Daily News that he “wants improved border security, visa monitoring and workplace enforcement and a streamlined process for coming to the country legally.”

Jim “Moonbat” McGovern, who serves on the board of the Progressive Democrats of America with Tom “SDS” Hayden and the CodePink girls, wants to toughen up the borders and send ICE agents into Worcester workplaces?

A guy so liberal he has a 0 rating from Americans for Tax Reform (even Nancy Pelosi has a 5), a 100 from the ACLU, and an F- - yes, minus - from the NRA. This guy wants more illegal immigration enforcement?

Actually, no.

McGovern repeatedly voted against workplace enforcement. McGovern voted repeatedly against money for border fencing, not “improved border security” as he told the Daily News. Not only does McGovern oppose more enforcement of the REAL ID Act, he voted against the act itself. He’s voted against every serious enforcement effort, including extending the e-Verify pilot program in 2003, the Border Protection, Anti-terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005 and the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

How many times did McGovern vote for a fence on the Mexican border, or e-Verify or anything else directly involving preventing or punishing illegal immigration? After repeated Internet searches, I couldn’t find one
