Dems vote to raise taxes by adjourning instead of voting on extending the Bush tax cuts!

Boehner: We’ve Got the Tax Votes, With Crossovers

By JANIE LORBER

Drew Angerer/The New York Times Representative John A. Boehner, the House Republican leader from Ohio, spoke of the need to extend the Bush tax cuts during a news conference with other House Republicans on Wednesday.

House Republicans seized on fresh signs of division among Democrats over what to do about expiring Bush-era tax cuts, and called with renewed fervor on Wednesday for a quick up-or-down vote.

“I believe there is a bipartisan majority in both the House and Senate who want to extend all of the current tax rates,” Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the House minority leader, said in a news conference on Capitol Hill. “The reason they aren’t bringing this up is because we have the votes.”
