A top Republican senator on financial issues said Monday that it may be difficult for the euro to survive as a currency.
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee who also serves as a senior member on the Finance and Banking committees, said that a debt crisis in the Eurozone could undermine the eight-year-old currency.
"I don't see how their currency survives much longer as a unit," Gregg said, citing the sovereign debt crises in countries like Greece, Spain, Ireland and Portugal.
