STOP the Transfer of Terrorist Detainees, Sign the Petition

Petitions - Terrorist Transfer

If you are an American who does not support the transfer of detainees from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GITMO) to American soil, please sign the petition below and support my bill, S.370, the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility Safe Closure Act of 2009. I will make sure that the Senate Majority and Minority leaders see this petition and are aware of your positions on this important national security matter. Please know, I will continue fighting to expose the truth about GITMO and the consequences of proceeding with shutting it down, and I will work endlessly to convince my Democrat and Republican colleagues to stand up to the President by supporting my legislation.

PETITION

I am one of the many Americans that does not support the transfer of detainees from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the United States. I believe transferring terrorist detainees to the United States threatens our national security and could afford these terrorists with constitutional rights reserved for U.S. citizens - risks the U.S. should not be willing to take.

There are a majority of Americans that stand by me: a recent USA Today/Gallup Poll reported that by more than 2 to 1, Americans say the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility should not be closed and by more than 3 to 1, Americans oppose moving some of the accused terrorists to prisons in their own states. In addition, 27 states have passed measures that would prevent detainees from being sent to their states. These numbers should not be ignored.

Because of my position on closing GITMO, I support Senator Inhofe's bill, S.370, the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility Safe Closure Act of 2009, that prevents the Obama administration from transferring terrorist detainees to the United States. I hope you will support this legislation as well.

Sincerely,
