HOW MUCH IS A TRILLION DOLLARS?

Whats's a trillion dollars? As we all become bombarded by the daily media blitz regarding the continuing saga in the varying amounts contained in projected stimuli (AKA Bailout) bills and financial shortfalls identified in millions, billions and even trillion dollar amounts, we run the risk of becoming either unmoved or apathetic due to the possible loss of our perspective on just how much for instance, a trillion dollars actually is.

For comparison purposes, lets consider the following:

Million = 1,000,000
Billion = 1,000,000,000
Trillion = 1,000,000,000,000

A trillion.....that's 12 zeroes to the left of the decimal point. A trillion is a million million of any thing.

Now consider....

A million seconds is 12 days.
A billion seconds is 31 years.
A trillion seconds is 31,688 years.

A million minutes ago was - 1 year, 329 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes ago.
A billion minutes ago was just after the time of Christ.

A million hours ago was in 1885.
A billion hours ago man had not yet walked on earth.

The United States has not yet existed for a trillion seconds.
Western civilization has not been around a trillion seconds.
One trillion seconds ago - 31,688 years - Neanderthals stalked the plains of Europe.

If you had a trillion dollars in $1,000 bills stacked, one on top of the other, it would reach upwards for 63 miles. While....One million worth of $1000 bills would be only 4 in. high....hence if someone wanted to remove one million dollars worth (4 inches from 63 miles)....would anyone notice?

If you had a trillion dollars in stacked $20 bills, laid on its side, it would extend from New York City to Lima Peru .....or 3635 miles.

and interestingly enough.......at the printing presses.....

A million dollars ago was five (5) seconds ago at the U.S. Treasury.
A billion dollars ago was late yesterday afternoon at the U.S. Treasury.

Amazing facts too consider.
