BREAKING: ISIS Terrorist Attack in Canada… Authorities Investigating

Canadian news outlets are reporting that the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group may have struck near near Canada’s Department of National Defense. Two members of the Canadian military were hit by a car leaving one in critical condition. The suspect is 25-year-old Martin Couture-Rouleau was shot and killed by police after moving towards police with a knife. Reports state that he was known previously by law enforcement as someone who was radicalized:
SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, Que. – A soldier hit by a car driven by a “radicalized” Quebec man has died, police say.
The identity of the soldier was not released, but the Surete du Quebec confirmed early Tuesday that the soldier died late Monday night in hospital.
Just after 11:30 a.m. Monday, a man ran down two Canadian soldiers near a Service Canada outlet that includes a Veterans Affairs office and recruitment centres for the Canadian Forces and the RCMP.
As the attacker fled police, he told a 911 operator he was acting in the name of Allah, a police source told QMI Agency.
The suspect, 25-year-old Martin Couture-Rouleau, was shot and killed after a police chase.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Couture-Rouleau had become “radicalized” and was known to federal authorities, including the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team.
“Federal authorities have confirmed that there are clear indications that the individual had become radicalized,” the PMO said in a statement late Monday.
“As Canada’s national security agencies have said, Canadians should remain vigilant.”
The PMO said Harper was briefed by RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Tom Lawson and National Security Adviser Stephen Rigby.
At first, the story of his terrorist ties were speculation, as law enforcement (in the video above) were being cautious. But now the story has been confirmed by Prime Minister Harper’s office:
A statement from the office of Prime Minister Stephen Harper late Monday said that authorities “have confirmed that there are indications that this is clearly an individual who has been radicalized … Canadians should remain vigilant.” Harper was briefed about the incident by the head of Canada’s national police force, the head of the military and his national security adviser.
This story, combined with the recent terror attack in Oklahoma which resulted in a beheading, are two clear indications that terrorists are highly active in North America. These just happen to be two stories we all know about, as they were successful in killing innocent people.
Do you think America should be on high alert? The stakes are high for getting such important questions one, and President Barack Obama hardly gives us the confidence we need that we’re being defended properly.
