Oops, my bad: War on drugs claims another innocent victim; mother of four

Cop who fired the fatal head shot was unaware he had even fired the shot. He’s been placed on vacation, I mean paid leave..

The war on drugs, like the war on poverty, is a sham with devastating consequences for the nation-- make that the people of the nation.

If drugs were handled the way the number one drug, alcohol, is treated, these kinds of ‘raids gone bad’ would cease.

The military industrial complex is the biggest drug dealer on the planet and the war on drugs is their goose that lays the golden eggs for them. There are allegations out there that drugs fund the government’s black ops. That’s one of the reasons for the war on drugs.

How many lives have been ruined by the prosecution of the war on drugs when the victims are guilty of no more transgression than things allowed alcohol users? Until they treat alcohol the same as other illegal drugs the war on drugs is a hypocritical sham!

I personally don’t think it’s the government’s business to decide what I eat, drink, or smoke though!

Unarmed woman accidentally shot in head by police during raidUnarmed woman accidentally shot in head by police during raid

Police are now saying the shot that killed an unarmed Ohio woman during a botched drug raid was purely accidental–and the officer who fired the shot didn’t even know that his gun had gone off.

Last week, a drug task force with the Ross County sheriff’s department executed a search warrant on a trailer in Chillicothe, Ohio. They expected to find a large cache of weapons and drugs.

But after detonating a flash grenade and entering the trailer, they found a 35-year-old woman, Krystal Barrows, dying of a gunshot wound to the head. Weapons and heroin were also found, and six suspects arrested, according to The Chillicothe Gazette. Barrows later died from the wound.

A police investigation determined that the fatal shot had come from the weapon of Sgt. Brett McKnight. According to a police press release, the news came as a surprise to McKnight, who was allegedly unaware that he had even fired.

The department suspects that McKnight fired his weapon by accident, at the exact moment that the flash grenade was detonated. Flash grenades are used to create confusion for suspects as police initiate a raid, although in this case, the police were just as confused as the inhabitants of the trailer.

Though weapons were found, the police report did not specify whether any of the suspects were armed. No shots were fired, other than the one that killed Barrows, according to Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt.

Barrows had no criminal record, except a misdemeanor conviction for drunk and disorderly conduct. She leaves behind three children, ages 9, 14 and 19, according to local news reports. Her Facebook page suggests she has four children–three sons and a daughter–however.
