Fed ends QE3 and sends upbeat signals on economy

Interesting timing, Feds end QE3 as republicans gain control of congress. If the economy tanks the democrats will blame republicans and have a campaign issue for the next election. Many believe Obama was brought in to destroy America anyway and his policies have been tailored to the Cloward - Piven strategy to overwhelm the economy with welfare and entitlement spending.

Food stamp usage has skyrocketed under Obama as has SS disability payments, and unemployment funding. The spending frenzy has been exacerbated by the horde of illegal immigrants welcomed into the country under Obama and the democrats and RINOs.

Statement draws dovish dissent

A look at the Fed’s bond buying and the stock market. The Federal Reserve on Wednesday voted to end its bond-buying program.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The Federal Reserve voted on Wednesday to end its bond-buying stimulus program commonly known as QE3 and sent several upbeat signals to markets that it was not worried about global weakness, low inflation or a wobble in financial markets.
In the statement, the Fed left unchanged its pledge that rates would remain near zero for a “considerable time.” But it qualified the statement, saying that if the economy improves faster than expected, than the first rate hike could come sooner than anticipated.
The statement also made a major change to the Fed’s view on labor markets. Instead of seeing “significant underutilization” in the labor market, which was in the September statement, the Fed now said that underutilization in labor resources “is gradually diminishing.”
On inflation, the U.S. central bank dismissed concern with the drop in inflation expectations seen in financial markets. It said that surveys of longer-term inflation expectations have “remained stable.” It said that low inflation has been held down by low energy prices and “the likelihood of inflation running persistently below 2% has diminished somewhat since early this year.”
U.S. stocks SPX, +0.62%  sagged immediately after the statement and closed with mild losses. Read Market Snapshot for more
Before the statement was released, the market was expecting the first rate hike in October 2015, a few months later than the “mid-2015” guidance from key allies of Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen. After the statement, traders wagered that the Fed would raise rates slightly earlier, at the September meeting.
Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said the Fed statement made was an “incremental shift towards the hawks.” Jim O’Sullivan, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics, added that the statement had a “more positive tone“ than expected.
“We expect tightening will start by June 2015, but, of course, that will depend on the data,” Sullivan said. “For now, there is no urgency for officials to use the statement to signal an imminent move,” he added.
For his part, Shepherson said he was sticking with his forecast of a spring 2015 rate hike. This is sooner than most economists expect.
Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist at Northern Trust Co, said it was important not to overstate the hawkish shift, calling it fairly small. Tannenbaum is forecasting the first rate hike in September 2015.

Over 214,000 Doctors Opt Out of Obamacare Exchanges

If you like you doctor you can keep your, oops, your doctor is not a provider in Obamacare!

October 28, 2014 - 11:28 AM

Over 214,000 doctors won't participate in the new plans under the Affordable Care Act (ACA,) analysis of a new survey by Medical Group Management Association shows. That number of 214,524, estimated by American Action Forum, is through May 2014, but appears to be growing due to plans that force doctors to take on burdensome costs. It's also about a quarter of thetotal number of 893,851 active professional physicians reported by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
In January, an estimated 70% of California's physicians were not participating in Covered California plans.
Here are some of the reasons why:
1.      Reimbursements under Obamacare are at bottom-dollar - they are even lower than Medicare reimbursements, which are already significantly below market rates. "It is estimated that where private plans pay $1.00 for a service, Medicare pays $0.80, and ACA exchange plans are now paying about $0.60," a study by the think-tank American Action Forum finds. "For example, Covered California plans are setting their plan fee schedules in line with that of Medi-Cal-California's Medicaid Program-which means exchange plans are cutting provider reimbursement by up to 40 percent."
2.      Doctors are expected to take on more patients to make up for the lost revenue, but that's not happening, because primary care doctors already have more patients than they can handle. "Furthermore, physicians are worried that exchange plan patients will be sicker than the average patient because they may have been without insurance for extended periods of time, and therefore will require more of the PCPs time at lower pay," says the study.
The study also points to two reasons that doctors might not get paid at all:
3.      An MGMA study indicates that 75% of ACA patients that had seen doctors had chosen plans with high deductibles. Given that most of the patients are low-income, doctors are concerned that the patients cannot meet the deductibles and they will get stuck with the bill.
4.      HHS requires that insurers cover customers for an additional 90 days after they have stopped paying their premiums: the insurer covers the first 30 - but, it's up to the doctor to recoup payment for the last 60 days. This is thenumber one reason providers are opting to not participate in the exchange plans. Currently, about a million people have failed to pay their premiums and had their plans canceled.
So, Obamacare is asking doctors to take on sicker patients for less money, with the risk of not getting paid at all? No wonder doctors are running from these plans!

Sources: Former Guantanamo detainees suspected of joining ISIS, other groups in Syria

Fight for control of Kobani enters new phase
As many as 20 to 30 former Guantanamo Bay detainees released within the last two to three years are suspected by intelligence and Defense officials of having joined forces with the Islamic State and other militant groups inside Syria, Fox News has learned.
The development has cemented fears that the U.S. military would once again encounter militants taken off the battlefield.
The intelligence offers a mixed picture, and officials say the figures are not exact. But they are certain at least some of the released detainees are fighting with the Islamic State, or ISIS, on the ground inside Syria. Others are believed to be supporting Al Qaeda or the affiliated al-Nusra Front in Syria.
A number of former detainees also have chosen to help these groups from outside the country, financing operations and supporting their propaganda campaigns.
Sources who spoke to Fox News were not able to provide the identities of the fighters.
Senior Defense and intelligence officials say the vast majority of detainees released from Guantanamo don't return to the fight -- and of those who do, relatively few have made it to Syria.
Of the 620 detainees released from Guantanamo Bay, 180 have returned or are suspected to have returned to the battlefield.
Of those 180, sources say 20 to 30 have either joined ISIS or other militants groups in Syria, or are participating with these groups from outside countries. Officials say most of those 20 to 30 are operating inside Syria.
The development underscores just one of many long-running complications for efforts to shutter Guantanamo Bay, a promise President Obama made within hours of taking the oath of office in 2009.
Nearly six years later, that effort has run aground, complicated by problems with relocating prisoners, by concerns about fighters returning to the battlefield and by Congress' resistance to allowing any to be detained on the U.S. mainland.
A majority of the jihadists released to their home countries tend to stay and fight locally. Afghans who return to the battlefield, for instance, tend to stay in Afghanistan.
But these officials said the former detainees who have joined ISIS in Syria have migrated from the European and African countries which agreed to receive them from the United States.
Egypt and Tunisia, as well as six European countries, are among them.
According to a source, there are 149 detainees still at Guantanamo Bay, almost 90 of them from Yemen.

Maine Governor Seeks to Make Nurse Abide by Quarantine

This sounds like a set up to me. A nurse acting like an 'occupy' radical. Nurses don't act like that. Makes a big ruckus about being quarantined. This is going to make people more likely favorable of a quarantine. They are not going to approve of her behavior here. I don't trust the people in charge and I can see this as a PSYOPS event in to prepare the public for less resistance to martial law and forcible quarantine actions.

Maine Governor Paul LePage.
Governor Paul LePage said he would try to force nurse Kaci Hickox to abide by Maine’s Ebola quarantine, escalating the confrontation between the previously little-known aid worker and the political leaders of two states.
Hickox, who has shown no symptoms since a brief fever, was kept in a tent at a New Jersey hospital after returning from treating patients in Sierra Leone before being released by Governor Chris Christie. She said today she wouldn’t follow isolation orders in Maine, where she lives. LePage, a 66-year-old Republican facing a re-election fight Nov. 4, said he would try to make her.
“Upon learning the healthcare worker intends to defy the protocols, the Office of the Governor has been working collaboratively with the State health officials within the Department of Health and Human Services to seek legal authority to enforce the quarantine,” he said a statement. “While we certainly respect the rights of one individual, we must be vigilant in protecting 1.3 million Mainers.”
Government officials are struggling to calm fears of contagion while not penalizing aid workers who venture to countries at the center of the still-raging epidemic. In West Africa, the virus has infected about 10,000 people and killed about half, according to the World Health Organization. In the U.S., one man who traveled from Liberia died.

Nurse’s Revolt

Hickox, a 33-year-old volunteer for Doctors Without Borders, said this morning that Maine’s orders were unjust.
“I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me, even though I am in perfectly good health and feeling strong and have been this entire time completely symptom free,” Hickox said today in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show.
If the state were to force Hickox to stay home through a court order, she would fight such a move, said Steven Hyman, one of her lawyers.
“If they attempt to get one, Kaci will contest it,” Hyman, a partner in New York at McLaughlin & Stern LLP, said in a telephone interview.
Doctors Without Borders “strongly disagrees with blanket forced quarantine for health care workers returning from Ebola affected countries,” the group said in an e-mailed statement.

Tent Escape

Hickox, who Oct. 26 criticized Christie for her detention, is staying in Fort Kent near the Canadian border. She wouldn’t have emerged from Maine’s 21-day quarantine until Nov. 10.
Hickox was detained for Ebola monitoring at Newark Liberty International Airport after returning from Africa. The nurse was taken to University Hospital in Newark on Oct. 24. She said the fever she registered upon arrival was due to anger.
Christie later allowed her to travel to Maine after she remained asymptomatic.
“I could care less that she hired a lawyer,” Christie said today at a press event in Little Ferry. “I hope that for the public good and for her own good that she decides to comply with the quarantine that they’ve requested in Maine. I think that’s fair to the public and it’s common sense.”
Her home, population 4,090, marks the beginning of 2,328-mile (3,746 kilometer) U.S. Route 1. Fort Kent is at the top of the state’s the northernmost county, Aroostook, across the St. John River from Canada.

Quadruped Alert

“You don’t look out for cops; you look for moose when you’re driving,” said Marc Chasse, a retired chiropractor who’s lived in the town for 50 years.
The last time he heard Fort Kent on the national news was in 2010, when the area flooded after receiving 210 inches of snow.
Local reaction has been mixed, he said, with the town manager and police chief assuring the public there’s nothing to fear. They have had mixed success, Chasse said.
“Ordinary folks are very much afraid,” he said.
LePage’s attempt to keep Hickox sequestered comes at a crucial political moment. The governor, a Tea Party favorite, has had a contentious first term.
He kept a roll of duct tape on his desk as a reminder to keep quiet after he alluded to sodomy while criticizing a political opponent. He joked about bombing the state’s largest newspaper and last year was quoted as saying the nation’s first black president “hates white people.”
About 38 percent of eligible Maine voters would re-elect the governor while 34 percent would vote for his Democratic opponent, Mike Michaud, according to a Pan Atlantic SMS Group poll conducted between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21. Another 10 percent plan to vote for independent Eliot Cutler.
The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.

Bellevue Transfers ICU Patients To NYU Langone Over Ebola Needs « CBS New York

Frankly, I don't know what to believe about this Ebola event. The US government is acting as if it's not much worse than the flu in terms of their efforts to keep it from spreading by isolating those who have had contact with those infected. Yet we see articles about how deadly the disease is, with up to 90% mortality rate, and read stories about some who have been infected in spite of adhering to strict protocols.

Instead of shutting our borders off to likely carriers the US government is announcing plans to bring in non-US citizens for treatment. Something doesn't add up! What's going on? Maybe the commentary here, http://kommoncents.blogspot.com/2014/10/lawmaker-claims-plans-may-be-in.html , is not so far fetched!

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Bellevue Hospital Center has been forced to transport its intensive care unit patients two blocks north to NYU Langone Medical Center, as the staff at the Bellevue ICU are consumed with Ebola care.
NYU Langone accepted two adult patients over the weekend from the Bellevue ICU, and was expecting to take two more pediatric ICU patients later Monday. The hospitals campuses are located about two blocks apart on the East Side of Manhattan.
“These recent transfers will help alleviate some of the demand on Bellevue’s critical care staff as they focus on current patient care issues,” the hospitals said in a joint statement.
Ian Michaels of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation emphasized that the issue was one of staffing.
“It’s not to free up space. It’s to free up staff,” Michaels told CBS 2. “All the staff working with the Ebola patient are from the ICU.”
New York City’s first confirmed Ebola patient, Dr. Craig Spencer of Hamilton Heights, has been in isolation at Bellevue since last week.
The Doctors Without Borders doctor remained in serious, but stable, condition as of Monday. He was hospitalized Thursday after coming down with a fever and gastrointestinal distress six days following his return from treating Ebola patients in Guinea.
A 5-year-old boy was also taken to Bellevue Monday after showing signs of the disease. He later tested for the virus.
An ambulance crew in full hazmat gear brought the boy to Bellevue late Sunday night out of an abundance of caution. The New York City Health Department said he had been in West Africa in the past 21 days.
“The child was showing some signs of an illness,” Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters, including WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb and 1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa. “Not clear what the illness was. We did the cautious thing and brought the child in under the full protocol.”
The boy had been visiting family in Guinea for about a month and flew back to the U.S. on Saturday, CBS 2’s Ilana Gold reported.

Anti-Gun Billionaire: ‘We Need More School Shootings’

When you know how the liberal elite mind works you understand their capacity to stage events to get a desired result. Would they actually assassinate a president to save the Rothschild banking monopoly, would they actually stage an attack on American ships in the Gulf of Tonkin in order to get us into the Vietnam war, would they actually stage an event that takes 3,000 lives, takes down several buildings in the middle of NY City to traumatize the public into accepting the Patriot Act, the creation of the DHS, and the 'war on terror'?

Anti-Gun Billionaire: ‘We Need More School Shooting

(KUOW) – Within hours of the school shooting in Marysville that left two students dead – including the shooter – Seattle venture capitalist Nick Hanauer posted a link to a story about the shooting with this caption: “We need more school shootings!!! Vote yes on Initiative 591.”

It was a sarcastic reference to the gun control measure on the ballot that would stop expanded background checks. Hanauer opposes this measure. He is a top funder for a separate measure that would require background checks for all gun sales and transfers in Washington state, including those from unlicensed sellers.
Some people from the campaign asked Hanauer in the comments below the post to take it down. The post was still up at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, two hours after he posted it.
Wrote one person: “Perhaps sarcasm isn’t the best communications strategy right now, Nick?”
And another: “Battle between the heart and the mind. Perhaps the heart should consider removing this at this time.”
Hanauer is a venture capitalist from a Democratic family. He is one of the top funders for the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, which supports I-594.
Meantime, Pedro Celis, the Republican candidate running for the first Congressional District sent out a statement calling the shooting a “horrendous tragedy.”
But, Celis added, “Let us not move to politicize this tragedy with knee-jerk reactions. Let us focus on healing – physically for the victims, mentally for those in the school, emotionally for all those involved, and spiritually for this nation.”
His opponent, incumbent Suzan DelBene didn’t tread into political waters: “No one should have to go through the horrific violence that occurred today, especially our children. As the Marysville-Pilchuck High School community comes together during this very difficult and terrible time, our region grieves with them and stands united in our support to help in any way.”
Next week, families of the children killed at Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut will travel to Washington to campaign to support I-594.

Lawmaker claims plans may be in pipeline to bring non-citizens to US for Ebola treatment

This whole Ebola has smelled 'fishy' from day one. I mean, this is reportedly a virus that could wipe out a good part of the planets inhabitants if not strictly controlled yet our government has treated it like a common cold. No sense of urgency or danger from day one.
Did you see the movie Outbreak, or more recently Contagion? I was expecting to see that kind of reaction from our government but no, not even close. So, what's going on? This is making some folks mighty suspicious.
An article I saw in the last couple of days warns that there is no Ebola virus and he only people getting sick are those having received treatment from the Red Cross. It went on to say as more people get sick from vaccinations from the Red Cross the government will declare a Medical Emergency and require all citizens to receive the vaccinations creating the much anticipated 'great culling' to depopulate the planet by 90%.
While another is very similar but adds another detail to the mix (vaccine mix). This article says the government is adding RFID chips to the mandatory vaccination.
And here, this article says, instead of closing our borders to Ebola infected countries, as Australia  announced they are now doing (http://news.yahoo.com/u-isolates-troops-australia-slaps-visa-ban-ebola-041640921.html), the US is planning on bringing non-U.S. citizens infected with Ebola into the US for treatment. The US government certainly doesn't seem too concerned. I can well understand how folks like those who wrote the articles mentioned are very suspicious.

Lawmaker claims plans may be in pipeline to bring non-citizens to US for Ebola treatment

A top Republican congressman claims the Obama administration is exploring plans to bring non-U.S. citizens infected with Ebola to the United States for treatment.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told Fox News that his office has received "information from within the administration" that these plans are being developed. So far, only American Ebola patients have been brought back to the U.S. for treatment from the disease epicenter in West Africa.
Goodlatte warned that expanding that policy could put the country at more risk.
"Members of the media, my office have received confidential communications saying that those plans are being developed," Goodlatte said Monday night.
"This is simply a matter of common sense that if you are concerned about this problem spreading -- and this is a deadly disease that we're even concerned about the great health care workers when they come back not spreading it -- we certainly shouldn't be bringing in the patients."
The chairman wrote a letter last week to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry asking whether such plans exist, but he says he has not gotten a response.
The details are sketchy, if such a plan even exists.
A Goodlatte aide told FoxNews.com that "someone in one of the agencies" contacted their office with the tip -- presumably, the plan would apply to non-U.S. residents. Who would pay for the transport and treatment is an open question.
In his letter last week, Goodlatte asked whether the administration is formulating such a plan, seeking details and communications among their employees.
The conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch also reported, shortly before Goodlatte sent the letter, that the administration is "actively formulating" plans to bring Ebola patients into the U.S., with the specific goal of treating them "within the first days of diagnosis."
Goodlatte earlier had pushed the president to consider using his authority to impose a temporary ban on non-U.S. citizen travel to the United States from the three African countries hardest-hit by Ebola.
"We think, again, that's just plain common sense, a practical way to stop this disease from spreading," he said.
The Obama administration has pushed back on those calls, saying the most effective approach is to stop Ebola at its source in West Africa.

George Will: Scientists Also Lying About Ebola -- NYMag

The article tries to ridicules Mr. Will's statement but he cites sources. The sources try to say they didn't mean what Mr. Will said they meant but their denial makes no sense.

So why would the professors suggest respirators should be worn if there is no airborne threat? Surely they believe there may be a possibility of an airborne threat or they would not have suggested respirators!

Scientists Also Lying About Ebola, Explains George F. Will

By

I only look like a professor. Photo: Brendan Hoffman/Getty Images

George F. Will, award-winning columnist and distinguished Fox News panelist, is not a believer in the scientific theory of anthropogenic global warming. And once you’ve decided that scientists routinely make shit up in order to advance a nefarious bureaucratic progressive agenda, there’s no end to the number of new conspiracies you’re going to discover. Appearing yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Will explained to his incredulous co-panelists that Ebola is actually far easier to transmit than the authorities are letting on:The problem is, the original assumption was that with great certitude, if not certainty, was that you need to have direct contact, meaning with bodily fluids with someone, because it's not airborne. There are now doctors who are saying, we're not so sure that it can't be in some instances transmitted by airborne …In fact, there are doctors who are saying that in a sneeze or some cough, some of the airborne particles can be infectious?Neera Tanden, appearing on the panel, asked, “I'm sorry, who are the doctors saying this? I mean, we have — I mean, this is what I think is really important, that facts about this disease do not lead to panic. So far, every expert that I've seen has said—” At which point, Will, goaded by the appeal to scientific authority, interjected, “Every expert that you've seen. Here we go again.”Will proceeded to cite the “University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease,” which, he claimed, supported his belief that Ebola could be transmitted through the air. Politifact explains that Will is once again garbling bits of fact and turning them into a falsehood. It is true that the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy’s website published a commentary by two University of Illinois professors suggesting that health-care workers treating Ebola patients should wear respirators. The commentary was misinterpreted by various right-wing media, forcing the Center to post an update explaining that the commentary had been totally misconstrued (“CIDRAP has not made claims that ‘Ebola is Airbone’ or that ‘Ebola [is] Transmittable by Air.’”). Its authors likewise tell Politifact that Will has misinterpreted their work and they do not endorse his conclusion. So even the renegade Freedom Doctors cited by Will turn out not to agree with him. Instead, they agree with “the Oxford Journal of Infectious Diseases and summarize issued by the Centers for Disease Control, theWorld Health Organization, and the New England Journal of Medicine.”To their credit, Tanden and panel host Chris Wallace continued to point out that Will’s claims were fallacious. This merely seemed to deepen Will’s suspicions. “Again,” he replied with his characteristic sagacity, “we're getting used to people declaring scientific debates closed over and settled; they rarely are.” Scientific debates will never be settled so long as George F. Will is around to unsettle them.
