The hype over Hurricane Irene is overblown, predicts the CEO of Advanced Forecasting Corporation.
"North of Delaware, most hurricane force winds will very likely be gusts, not sustained winds."
The demise of Irene has already begun. There is no visible eye. The storm intensity is down to 99 mph. This would be a low-end category 2 or a strong category 1 storm, while 36 hours ago some predicted a catastrophic category 4 storm. Air Force Reserve aircraft have found that Irene's eyewall has collapsed, and the central pressure has risen -- rising pressure means a weakening storm.
o The reduction in storm intensity likely confirms that this storm is not going to be as monstrous as it has been publicly forecast to be.
o Yes, it will be windy. However, north of Delaware most hurricane force winds will very likely be gusts, not sustained winds.
o At Advanced Forecasting Corporation, we are concentrating on the surging waters which typically cause over 85% of the loss of life in hurricanes. We have modeled the following predictions:
1) There will be wind damage over eastern-most North Carolina as well as some storm surge flooding up the Pamlico Sound. Some houses in the Hamptons will be flooded and destroyed. Flooding might occur in New York's Battery Park Subway station and on the FDR Drive since the city could get up to 8 inches of rain. There may be some New England neighborhoods submerged due to rivers overflowing.
2) With 90% confidence, we predict a total damage bill below $1 billion. Unless there is an unexpected secondary or tertiary event, this is not going to be a huge-loss storm.
o Our internal modeling uses genetic algorithms to emphasize the weaknesses of storms. Remember that storms are energy. Just like people, they all have their own personalities. From the get-go, Irene was not a power storm. Her goal was to become wide, not internally powerful. Personified further, the storm became too big too quickly and it cannot master its own strength.

Obama Bin lyin about Osama Bin Laden
What sealed the SEALs fate? Were they used as part of a reelection strategy? Was the Bin Laden raid a faked event? If so, how do you keep them from talking.
If it wasn’t fake, and that was really Osama, did the spiking the football by releasing the details of the SEALs lead to their deaths?

Rep. King, chair of House intelligence committee, is starting to ask questions about a movie regarding the hunt for Bin Laden planned to be released in October, 2012 - just before presidential election. King started his investigation after reading a OP-Ed article in the New York Times which described that the movie producers had been given classified access to Seal Team Six. Presidential spokesman stated the investigation was without merit and the Whitehouse released no such classified information. Carney made no mention of the New York Times, "The Paper of Record", article that motivated the investigation by the Intelligence Committee, which is legally bound to oversee issues regarding national security.
Ms. Dowd, through her NYT article, may have been innocuously reporting "Inside Hollywood" gossip, but review of various statements by different players makes one wonder if someone in the Presidents campaign had been working on this film for some time:
- 2006-2008 (Estimated): Hurt Locker's Bigelow/Boal start development effort for film about the hunt for Bin Laden, focused around Tora Bora - based on book "Kill Bin Laden" purportedly authored by Special Forces officer involved in Tora Bora Film languished in studios given no definitive ending.
- Jan 13, 2011: Bigelow/Boal receive key funding from Megan Ellison, Oracle's Larry Ellison's Daughter. Variety Article claims "Film took Shape" after Boal was provided classified information regarding Hunt for Bin Laden
- Feb 18, 2011: Obama Supporter, Larry Ellison, has private dinner with other Tech Titans and Obama
- June/July 2010: Hurt team's Boal learns Bin Laden Hunt Intensifying
- April 19, 2011: Sony hosted Obama fundraiser
- April 29, 2011: Film Casts lead actor for Bin Laden film (Joel Edgerton)
- May 1, 2011: Bin Laden Killed by Seal Team Six
- May 10, 2011: Maureen Dowd article describing planned Bin Laden movie
- May 24, 2011: Sony Pictures Secures production rights to Bin Laden film
- May 27, 2011: Announcement that Columbia Pictures had received distribution rights for "Black Ops film about the Hund for Bin Laden"
- Aug 6, 2011: Maureen Dowd article describing how Hurt Locker producers were given special classified access to Seal Team Six and OBL mission details
- Aug 9, 2011: Rep King asks for internal investigation with respect to Dowd assertion to classified disclosures
- Aug 10, 2011: Spokesman Carney denys any classified information was provided to filmmakers
- Oct 12, 2012: Planned release of Bin Laden film
So, with this sequence of events I am interested to understand:
- The movie was floundering over a story as far back as 2006, perhaps even further. The story was focused around Tora Bora. With no definitive "Hollywood Ending" what changed in Jan 2011 to motivate Megan Ellison to take the risk on investing in this film without a script
- Why is there references to writer Boal getting access to classified information in the January 2011Variety Article?
- I am not a producer/movie maker, but if there was no "ending" for the movie before OBL death on May 1, why was the team casting roles on April 29th? And why was Sony willing to commit to the movie in May 24th with no script in hand for a release in Oct 2012? I thought it normally took several years to make a movie.
Given this sequence of events, it is more than reasonable that King has asked for an investigation. There is no evidence of a explicit release of classified data, but the January 13 2011 variety article and Dowd Op-Ed pieces both make mention of classified access. And, the actions of the Hurt Locker team to solidify funding and settle on actors just before OBL was killed, after the project languished for years, is suspect.
Would it surprise anyone that an over anxious Obama election team would use knowledge of OBL's whereabouts to hint to a leading movie director of the genre that it was time to accelerate the "Kill Bin Laden" project? Perhaps with a wink and a nod that the project could get funded by a rich Obama supporter?
This thought of a conspiracy deserves an investigation to assure secrets are properly protected and that peoples good names are maintained. This would not be the first set of honest professionals unwittingly leveraged by a president to favor their re-election. Done right, this should be an interesting movie, but something does not smell right.....

House Republicans who voted to raise the debt ceiling and raise spending
If they tell you they voted to cut spending they lie. They voted to cut the rate of increase in spending over the next 10 years by a miniscule amount…the spending still goes up!
There’s no guarantee that the so-called cuts will occur anyway because one congress can’t obligate another congress on spending matters like this.
Most Americans wanted them to not raise the debt ceiling and wanted them to actually cut spending. They betrayed us on both counts.
We should not forget this the next time their name is on the ballot and the next time their hand is out for a donation!

Libyan Draft Constitution: Arabs ‘spring’ into sharia caliphate? Unintended consequences or plan all along?
Is Obama trying to improve US relations with Muslims or is he just pro Muslim? His first ‘bow’ was to the Saudi king and it was definitely a bow of subservience.
I think the bows that followed were done to make it appear that he would bow at the drop of a handkerchief so as to make the first bow not appear so blatantly submissive!
Libyan Draft Constitution: Sharia is ‘Principal Source of Legislation’

The dust has not yet settled over the Libyan capital of Tripoli since rebels took control over the weekend. But already, a draft constitutional charter for the transitional state has appeared online (embedded below). It is just a draft, mind you, and gauging its authenticity at this point is difficult. There is also no way to know whether this draft or something similar will emerge as the final governing document for a new Libyan regime.
As both the Morning Bell and Washington in a Flash noted today, Heritage Fellow Jim Phillips recently pointed out that Islamist forces “appear to make up a small but not insignificant part of the opposition coalition,” and must be prevented “from hijacking Libya’s future.” Parts of the draft Constitution allay those fears, while others exacerbate them.
Much of the document describes political institutions that will sound familiar to citizens of Western liberal democracies, including rule of law, freedom of speech and religious practice, and a multi-party electoral system.
But despite the Lockean tenor of much of the constitution, the inescapable clause lies right in Part 1, Article 1: “Islam is the Religion of the State, and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia).” Under this constitution, in other words, Islam is law. That makes other phrases such as “there shall be no crime or penalty except by virtue of the law” and “Judges shall be independent, subject to no other authority but law and conscience” a bit more ominous.

Mr. Reed called the opening of the new headquarters of SolFocus, which produces large, free-standing solar panels, an “enormously important” development for the city’s economy.
“Clean technology is the next wave of innovation that Silicon Valley needs to capture,” the mayor said, noting that the San Jose City Council had committed to increasing the number of “green jobs” in the city to 25,000 by 2022. San Jose currently has 4,350 such jobs, according to city officials.
But SolFocus assembles its solar panels in China, and the new San Jose headquarters employs just 90 people.

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. – At the request of tea party leaders in Arizona, famed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has promised to investigate the validity of Barack Obama's purported long-form birth certificate in a determination of the president's eligibility for the county's 2012 election ballot.
Tea party leaders in Surprise, Ariz., met with Arpaio and WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi Thursday morning to express concern that a fake birth certificate would be used to document the president's eligibility to run in Maricopa County, where Arpaio is the chief law enforcement officer.
Arpaio's tough crackdown on illegal immigration has made him a national figure.
At a one-hour meeting in Arpaio's office, the tea party leaders presented the sheriff with a petition that was drafted after a speech by Corsi the previous night. Corsi, author of a best-selling book challenging Obama's eligibility, "Where's the Birth Certificate?", presented evidence from numerous computer-imaging specialists who believe the document presented by the White House April 27 is not authentic.
At the gathering Wednesday night of more than 325 people, sponsored by the Surprise Tea Party Patriots of Surprise, Ariz., and the Liberty Through Action organization, 242 signatures were gathered on the petition, which requested that Arpaio begin a criminal investigation.
The petition calls for the sheriff to investigate the possibility that a crime has been committed against the Arizona secretary of state, who must decide whether to put Obama's name on the ballot.

Arpaio told the tea party leaders the complaint is within his jurisdiction, and he will be forced to investigate. He said he expects political pressure, but he pointed out that as the chief law enforcement officer of Maricopa County, he's taken an oath to respond to citizens who approach him about enforcing the law.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Lt. Justin Griffin confirmed to WND that Arpaio is "waiting to receive all the documentation and all the investigative material from Dr. Jerry Corsi, and then he will look into the matter and compare it to the Arizona revised statutes."
The petition states:
We the undersigned citizens are respectfully requesting that you initiate a criminal investigation under the authority of A.R.S. 13-2407 A-C, Into the alleged Certificate of Live Birth, File Number 151 61 10641, State of Hawaii, for Barack H. Obama II. The document was released on April 27, 2011, by the White House to the press and posted on the White House website and distributed and downloaded by computer throughout the nation, including within Maricopa County. Reportedly, several experts have declared the document to be a forgery. Reportedly, the file number may be out of sequence; "THE" appears to be misspelled as "TXE" in the State Registrar's stamp; there appears to be a "smiley face" in the "A" in the Alvin T. Onaka, State Registrar stamp; reportedly the document has computer generated, multiple layers and is not a copy of a single layered document; font types appear to vary throughout the document, reportedly, not possible with a vintage 1961 mechanical typewriter. We urge you to continue to support the Rule of Law and to investigate and determine whether the alleged Certificate of Live Birth, for Barack H. Obama II, File Number 151 61 10641, is a forgery or an authentic document. A.R.S. 13-2407 A-C, declares that tampering with a public record is a class 6 felony.
"I think what we've seen is history created today," said Surprise tea party leader Brian Reilly. "This is probably the first time in this country that citizens have gone to a sheriff over a national issue."
Reilly said he's "extremely grateful" that Arpaio will look into the matter is "hopeful that this will achieve what we're expecting to achieve on this issue, which is the truth."
"We're trying to get to the truth," he emphasized.
