Police officers need reminding that ‘Protect and Serve’ refers to their duty towards citizens, not towards the federal government.
They are not military, not special ops. Federal grants for special weapons, military like vehicles, training and coordination with federal agencies are creating a culture among the cops that is foreign to their primary duty. A culture of ‘us versus them’ instead of the neighbor cop, the citizen cop.
When the police force becomes an extension of the government we enter into the police state. In Nazi Germany, Hitler placed the German police forces under Heinrich Himmler and his SS Storm Troopers…
