June 11, 2008 - Candidate Obama tells CNBC he would like to see gas prices increase gradually.

September, 2008 - Steven Chu tells the WSJ "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

December 15, 2008 - President-elect Obama nominates Steven Chu Secretary of Energy

February 3, 2009 - Administration cancels 77 Utah drilling leases.

April 20, 2010 - An explosion and fire aboard BP's Deepwater Horizon oilrig kills 11 and causes environmental disaster.

May 6, 2010 - Sec. Ken Salazar declares 3-week moratorium on all drilling permits pending commission report.

May 25, 2010 - Minerals Management Service claims to have issued 17 drilling permits that turn out to be modifications.

May 27, 2010 - Obama extends moratorium for 6 months only for deepwater drilling and forms Oil Panel.

June 8, 2010 - Oil Panel members complain administration falsified their report by implying they approved the moratorium.

June 18, 2010 - Minerals Management Service (MMS) becomes Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE).

June 22, 2010 - Judge Berman overturns Obama moratorium on drilling claiming it is "arbitrary and capricious."

June 22, 2010 - Obama appeals Judges order.

July 8, 2010 - Administration loses its appeal in the 5th circuit court.

July 12, 2010 - Administration issues a new moratorium.

February 2, 2011 - Judge issues contempt charges against Obama for intentionally delaying permit issuance .

February 12, 2011 - Sea Hawk Drilling files for bankruptcy citing permit delays.

February 18, 2011 - Judge orders BOEMRE to issue permits.

March 2, 2011 - Judge orders Admin to act on 5 permits within 30 days plus 2 more drilling permits.

March 5, 2011 - Obama appeals judge's order on issuing drilling permits.

March 17, 2011 - BOEMRE approves deep water drilling in Gulf of Mexico for Brazil.

March 31, 2011 - Steven Chu denies administration is forcing gas prices higher via regulations and permit denials.

May 14, 2010 - Obama declares we must drill to lower gas prices.
