Could the government use ‘smart meters’ against you?

What happens when Big Brother thinks you are using to much electricity!

Westerville smart-meter plan halted

But some Westerville residents said the government is moving too fast. They said the meters are an invasion of privacy. They worried that their utilities information could be stolen by hackers, and they asked about reports that the meters catch fire.

"There are benefits to smart meters, just very few," resident Joanne Grose said. "The problems seriously outweigh the benefits."
